There has been a lot of confusion and misinformation on social media surrounding the 10/18 No Kings event at Chapin Park in Myrtle Beach, SC.
We understand the political climate right now is scary and people are on edge. We understand fear and uncertainty only grow when people are confused. We believe it’s important to acknowledge these feelings and ensure we are providing the support and transparency the community deserves.
50501 SC was not initially involved in this event. It is being hosted by two independent community members who took the initiative to organize it through the national No Kings coalition. They went through the process to receive a permit and communicate with the City of Myrtle Beach and the Myrtle Beach Police Department for the necessary conversations about barriers and coverage.
In addition to the national No Kings coalition verifying the event, 50501 SC state and local volunteer organizers have now been in conversation with the independent community members volunteering to organize the Chapin Park event. We have verified they are real people with good intentions, a safety plan, and a volunteer team to support the event.
As of 10/15/25, we are pleased to say 50501 SC is now supporting the 10/18 No Kings event at Chapin Park in Myrtle Beach, in addition to our statewide mobilization to the State House in Columbia. Local volunteers with 50501 SC will also be in attendance at the Chapin Park event to support the independent organizers.
Thank you to the community members who have engaged in this important conversation, and to the City of Myrtle Beach for their support as we worked through the concerns from the community. While our primary No Kings event remains the statewide mobilization to the State House, we encourage community members who cannot travel to Columbia to support the Chapin Park event.
